RANGE FIRING.
The course of fire used by PMO Security Services to certify Private Detectives will be as shown below. A dry fire walk-thru will be conducted to familiarize with course of fire, then range firing will commence in groups of approximately 5 firers. The 3-yard, 7-yard, and 10-yard points will be fired in group and then 3-yard seated positions and 7-yard stair position will be fired individually.
Self-Defense Course [All applicants].
Conducted with assigned Revolver/Pistol.
TQ-19 Silhouette Target.
- 3 Yards; 5 rounds each position fired in two strings of 2 shots and 3 shots.
Lying on back, sit up, draw; 5 seconds each string.
Standing, strong hand, draw; 5 seconds each string.
Standing, weak hand, draw; 10 seconds each string.
- 7 Yards.
Standing, draw, 10 rounds; 20 seconds.
- 10 Yards, over or around cover.
Choice of position, draw, 5 rounds, change hands, 5 rounds; 30 seconds.
- 7 Yards; Standing on ascending stairs, draw, 5 rounds in two strings of 2 shots and 3 shots 5 seconds each string. [Kneel if no stairs available]
- 3 Yards; 5 rounds each position fired in two strings of 2 shots and 3 shots.
- Seated on chair, facing target with table in front, draw; No time.
- Seated on chair, perpendicular to target, weak side to target, draw; No time.
Total 50 rounds fired. 35 (70% ) in the gray area of target will be recorded as pass/fail.
Additional firearms may be fired at no additional charge. Each firearm to be carried will be range fired for qualification as required by current regulations.
Following qualification firing, optional low-light familiarization firing and advanced course are offered.
